Lusanda Jojwana, Chief Operating Officer at Mosima Attorneys, says the firm has positioned itself as a boutique, fully black-owned corporate commercial law firm in a market which is highly saturated by large white-owned firms, and is always open to forge partnerships with these entities.

One of the projects the firm is particularly proud of involved them providing legal support to a large manganese producer on its move from the project phase of its mine to the operational phase. “We were also involved in the negotiation of an acquisition of a junior coal mine producer on behalf of our client and a consortium of other companies. The highly contentious negotiation process took several months to complete and we managed to provide a result which the client was fully satisfied with,” said Jojwana.
The firm has also provided legal advice services to a Zimbabwean petroleum supplier regarding regulatory terrain around transporting petroleum from Zimbabwe to Mozambique, and assisted an experienced player in the construction sector in expansion of its business into the renewable energy space.
With the advent of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Mosima Attorneys anticipates further growth and opportunities in the tech sector too.
“AfCFTA will certainly attract more investment into the already growing tech market. This means more M&A activity and that creates opportunities for law firms to play their role in providing legal services to these companies,” explained Mosima.
