Based on an increase in forensic assignments across Africa, the firm has added Forensic, Risk and Compliance for non-profit organisations and development partners, to the services they offer.
The aim is to help clients navigate the continuous changes in regulation, governance and compliance and to drive resilience and agility as well as how to protect their people, assets, operations and brand. It also focuses on how to convert risk into opportunities, so that clients continue to improve development results and deliver social impact.
The launch of the service offering comes at a time of unprecedented global change, where new ways of working due to Covid restrictions, diminishing financial resources, and heightened public scrutiny, are in the spotlight.
The firm believes it is important to help non-profit and development clients save time and money by better identifying, mitigating and responding to serious incidents and risk.
Willie Oelofse, Director of Firm’s Forensic, Risk & Compliance department said over the past year there has been a significant increase in forensic assignments across Africa with the team delivering work in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, the DRC and Senegal.
“We used this opportunity not only to grow our African footprint but also to strengthen our relationships with our ALN partners and co-deliver on these assignments,” said Willie.
“We have created a multi-disciplinary team who are able to conduct complex investigations into allegations of fraud, misconduct and non-compliance and help clients design and implement internal controls and compliance measures to mitigate vulnerabilities,” he said.
The firm has also brought on Monica Blagescu, who is highly skilled in working with international development and humanitarian emergencies, having held leadership, operational management and policy roles for non-governmental organisations, bilateral donors and the UN.
She brings to ALN Kenya expertise in effectiveness, accountability and impact for social purpose organisations, and has considerable experience as an advisor and practitioner on due diligence, quality assurance, standards compliance, risk and crisis management, including safeguarding.
With a combination of legal, accounting, communication, technological and organisational development strategies, the firm provides tailored services which cover incident detection, investigation, response, and prevention. They also offer direct legal representation in all countries of operation.
ALN Kenya is currently hosting a digital media campaign which will culminate with a LinkedIn debate on the week of June 28.
