Triple-qualified partner joins Asafo & Co.
Daye Kaba – triple-qualified in New York, Ontario and now in Côte d’Ivoire – recently joined Asafo & Co.’s Abidjan office where he plans to strengthen its mining practice.
Trilingual, Kaba was a partner at a law firm in Toronto, Canada, before returning to Africa, but he has been active on the continent throughout his 20-year career. He focuses on corporate finance, M&A and commercial law matters with a strong emphasis on the natural resources sector, especially in Africa.
Kaba’s extensive corporate/commercial law expertise and in-depth knowledge of the mining sector will boost Asafo & Co.’s practice tremendously. He will also play a key role in helping develop sustainable solutions in the mining and extractive industries in Africa, where Asafo & Co.’s clients are increasingly seeking suitable ESG safeguards and investments in transition materials to curb their carbon footprint.
Commenting on his new position, Kaba said he’s eager to further develop the firm’s already very strong natural resources practice. “I look forward to seeking new solutions for extractives industry clients that will help them grow and also resonate with global concerns about climate change. Having focused on Africa for many years now, moving to Asafo & Co. and to Africa made a lot of sense for my practice, particularly since an increasing number of North American entities are seeking to build new alliances with the continent.”
“Daye’s skills and international background will bring real added value to our practice and to the firm’s positioning as an international law firm with strong on-the-ground presence in Africa,” said Pascal Agboyibor, Managing Partner at Asafo & Co. “Daye shares our commitment to the continent. Together we firmly believe that Asafo & Co.’s unique perspective of Africa and of international markets is contributing to constructive discussions on sustainable growth in the extractives industry that satisfy both local players and global investors.”
