Law professor Cendrine Delivré has moved to the Paris office from CMS Francis Lefebvre with associates Clémence Descoutures and Jean-Baptiste Santini.
ASAFO & CO.’s Managing Partner, Pascal Agboyibor said the appointment reinforced the firm’s positioning in Europe.
“Interest in Africa is strong and investors remain active and in search of new opportunities…having a team of this calibre join us is significant…”
Delivré is the firm’s twelfth partner and has substantial experience advising clients investing in Africa and negotiating public private partnerships.
“I am motivated by the firm’s unique market position that combines a strong local presence in Africa with the sophistication of an international law firm,” she said.
ASAFO & CO. has more than 180 lawyers and legal professionals spread across Abidjan, Casablanca, Johannesburg, Mombasa, Nairobi, London and Paris.
The team’s focus is on banking, financing and dispute resolution in sectors that include energy, infrastructure, and natural resources.
The firm was conceived and built specifically to accompany and contribute to Africa’s growth and success. This has now become especially relevant with the founding of the African Continental Free Trade Area, agreed three years ago with free trade starting this year.
While Delivré will work across the continent, her background in French law coupled with her on-the-ground experience adds enormous weight to the firm’s expertise around doing business with Francophone Africa. This included countries like the Congos, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Togo, Niger, Chad and Cameroon, among others.
