Uwavera was attacked while sitting in a quiet corner of a church and reading near her home. She died in hospital at the weekend. Tina was shot dead by a policeman in Berger in Lagos State on May 26.
BBC Pidgin reported that Uwavera had been raped although police said they were treating the attack as a murder.
In a statement today Lawsan’s national president Emmanuel Nwobodo said the women had been promising young Nigerians and that their deaths were a loss to the country. He appealed to the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to find the perpetrators.
“We hold that these deaths must not be swept under the carpet but be thoroughly investigated with the aim of meting out justice.”
“Murder, in what ever form or which ever way, is detestable and should not be condoned. The gruesome murders of young Tina and Vera is overwhelmingly heartbreaking and as an association we stand that such must not be condoned. The perpetrators must be fished out and brought to book,” Nwobodo said.
