NBA Decides 2020!

At 11pm on Wednesday, July 29, the race began for a new leadership of the Nigeria Bar Association, the largest bar of qualified lawyers in Africa. Ifeoluwa Ogunbufunmi reports on the on-going voting process.

With more than 29,600 accredited voters, the NBA has begun its selection process for a new leadership for a two-year tenure.

The three candidates in the running as NBA President are Olumide Akpata (Senior Partner, Templars); Babatunde Ajibade SAN (Managing Partner, SPA Ajibade & Co); and Dele Adesina SAN (Principal Partner, Dele Adesina & Co).

Other positions in the NBA polls include: 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, General Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Welfare Secretary, Financial Secretary, Publicity Secretary, and Assistant Publicity Secretary.

Who will the NBA electorate vote in as their next president? Will it be Transformational Leadership - #MakeTheBarWorkForAll (Olumide Akpata); A United Bar – #LetsDoBetter (Babatunde Ajibade SAN); or #SecureTheFuture (Dele Adesina SAN)?

The polls at 10:30am put Olumide Akpata in the lead (6618 votes), with Babatunde Ajibade SAN coming in second (2986 votes), and Dele Adesina SAN coming in third (2607 votes).

The voting process will end at 11pm today (Thursday, July 30, 2020).
