Global position for Kenya’s Kibet

Jinaro K. Kibet, SC, a senior partner at TripleOKLaw LLP, has been appointed to the board of directors of Meritas, a global alliance of independent law firms that serves the legal needs of companies across every major jurisdiction and global market.

Kibet was elected to the position from the more than 8 400 attorneys in the Meritas member network and will serve a three-year term with six other lawyers from around the world. He will play a top leadership role in maintaining Meritas’ reputation for delivering the highest quality legal service to clients in every major global market.

“Jinaro has been helping Kenyan companies enter and expand in other markets and industries, leveraging their on-the-ground peers across the globe for the benefit of their clients,” said Sona Pancholy, President of Meritas. “As a member of the Meritas board of directors, Jinaro will drive the continued growth and innovation of our network – in talent, technology and many more global initiatives.”

Kibet has been involved with Meritas for the last ten years, during which he has been the key contact in Kenya. He is part of the Meritas Sports Law group and the Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity group. He has contributed to thought leadership through webinars and publications including the Kenyan chapter of the Africa: A Legal Guide for Business Investment and Expansion. As a board member, he will participate in strategic planning, member recruitment and development, and the administration of Meritas’ rigorous quality standards, which set the network apart from other legal organisations.

“Being able to assist clients on their most important matters no matter where they are is extremely important to us. We are proud that Meritas is a well-respected Band 1 network that helps our clients unlock the opportunities of doing business in Africa and beyond,” Kibet said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the board to ensure more businesses can unlock the value of our vast network of lawyers.”

Kibet has the rank of Senior Counsel, the highest level of recognition for an advocate in Kenyan legal practice. With 34 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law, he has garnered a wealth of experience in securities advisory, corporate restructuring, banking and insurance law advisory for local and international corporates, private equity and investment advisory, public-private partnerships, capital markets and securities, mergers and acquisitions, and other financial services.
